Abstract

Sixtyfive germplasmcollectionsofjackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam.) were screened for relative resistance to shoot and fruit borer, Diaphania caesalis (Wlk.) under field conditions at ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru during 2013–2015. A significant variation in infestation of D. caesalis was observed among jack germplasm. The results showed that out of 65 accessions, 4 accessions were found resistant, 26 were least susceptible, 22 were moderatively susceptible and 13 were highly susceptible. The identified resistant accessions form a basis for further studies on morphological and biochemical analysis to understand host plant resistance.
