Abstract

A study was conducted during summer to evaluate sprinkler irrigation as a method to suppress thrips (Scirtothrips dorsalis) damage in chilli in comparison to insecticides. The results revealed that sprinkler irrigation alone registered significantly lower thrips damage rating (1.13) which was at par with treatment comprising sprinkler and insecticide (acephate) and significantly superior to control. Yield realized was also on par in both the treatments thus indicating that sprinkler irrigation could be an effective option to manage thrips on chilli in summer season.
