Record of Papaya Mealybug, Paracoccus marginatus Williams & Granara deWillink and its Natural Enemies on Papaya, Guava, Grapes and Plumeria in Punjab

Abstract

Regular pest surveillance during 2015–16 lead to record of the occurrence of Papaya mealybug, Paracoccus marginatus Williams & Granara de Willink on guava, grapes, papaya and plumeria in Punjab, India. Infested plant parts were sampled and different stages of mealybug thus collected were reared under laboratory conditions. While rearing papaya mealybug, two encyrtid parasitoids, Anagyrus sp. and Acerophagus papayae Noyes & Shauff and an aphelenid hyperparasitoid, Marietta leopardina Motschulsky were recovered from mealybug infested plant parts.
