Effect of biopesticides on management of Helicoverpa armigera in Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera Linn.)

Abstract

Field trials were conducted at Ayurvedic College, Machenhalli Shivamogga during 2014–2015 to evaluate the efficacy of organic pesticides against fruit borer of Ashwagandha, Helicoverpa armigera (Hb.). Among the organic insecticides evaluated, highest mean per cent reduction of H. armigera infestation on fruits of ashwagandha was recorded with Ha NPV @ 250 LE (63.61), which was on par with nimbicidine @ 3ml/L (56.66) followed by NSKE 5 per cent (47.42) and neem oil 5 ml/L (45.73) over control.
