Abstract

In recent years the Indian capital market has witnessed a number of IPOs. The performance of IPOs depends upon a lot of factors. Out of many factors identified one such important factor is the conditions in the capital market. Therefore, in this paper the performance of the IPOs in the bullish as well as in bearish market has been analyzed. And it was found that there is significant difference in the performance of IPOs between two periods. The paper starts with an introduction then it discusses about the procedure of issuing IPOs, book building process, advantages and disadvantages of IPOs etc. After this the analysis has been done using the data for the companies which have issued IPOs during the bullish as well as bearish period.
