In the present scenario, awareness regarding the culture of an organization has become a field of prime importance as it helps one succeed in or manage the environment. The culture expresses itself in values, norms, and behaviour of the employees and their groups, organizational structures, technology, objectives, history and philosophy of the organization. The level of congruence between an organization's culture and employee's value preferences can predict employee job satisfaction and turnover.
The study aimed to analyze the culture of a steel plant and its impact on job satisfaction of employees.
A questionnaire consisting of organizational culture by Denison (1990) and job satisfaction by Spector (1985) was distributed to one hundred and forty eight executives selected randomly from different departments of the organization.
Results of the survey show that the culture of the organization has a positive significant impact on the job satisfaction of employees. However, there is a need to give special emphasis on the internal dynamics of the organization.
Based on this study, some suggestions have been given for improvement of the culture of the organization leading to greater job satisfaction of employees.
