Abstract

Heliothis armigera has emerged as a single most important pest of cotton in India. Outbreak of this pest in Andhr^ Pradesh and its control failure have been reviewed by several authors. A modified larval diet was developed for maintaining this insect in laboratory. Laboratory biassay were conducted to determine LC values for several insecticides against. 2. to 11 day old larvae- of Guntur strain by leaf dip method. Against. 3, and 6 days old larvae LC values were 39 and 130 for fenvalerate, 14.3 and 95 for cypermethfin, 3.3 and 16 for deltamethrin, 4 and 20 for cyhalothrin, 122.5 and 200 for acephate and 85 and 150 for endosulfan. Least age related change in susceptibility was observed for acephate.
