The review covers the physico-chemical characters, fatty acid and volatile components and meliacin constituents of neem oil and analysis of the key mellacins. The bioactivity against insects (reproduction-fertility, oviposition and hatchability; antifeedant and repellent: metamorphosis/growth disruption; direct kill; joint action etc.), fungi, nematodes and other diverse pest is briefly overviewed. The pharmacological effects and the commercial oii based pesticidal and other products are highlighted.
