A cleanup method for separating multiresidues of organochlorine insecticides in black gram, tomato and brinjal is reported. The insecticides were extracted in acetonitrile and partitioned into n-hexane and cleaned up by adsorption chromatography on a glass column (10 mm id.) on purified silica gel (60–120 mesh). Elution with different solvent mixtures yielded recovery of various organochlorine insecticides from black gram, tomato and brinjal langing ffom 88.5 to 4.4, 86.3 to 92.9 and 88.1 to 93.3%, respectively when spiked dt 0.1 and 0.2 mg kg−1 levels.
