The transition metal salts on reaction with sodium dimethyldithiocarbamate in watcr-dichloromethane mixture, yielded the corresponding dimethyldithiocarbamates which were isolated from the organic layer. Dilute solutions (upto 50 ppm) of these complexes inhibited selectively the germination of the seeds of Avena ludoviciana and dhlaris minor weedse without affecting wheat.
