Abstract

Exposure of adult cabbage aphid, Brevicoryne erassicae to neem seed extract and azadirachtin from Azadirachta indica reduced iti fertility (live offsprings per aphid/d−1) and ththecunuity (live + dead offsprings per aphid d−1) in the range of 30 to 60 ppm of azadirachtin. The effect was linear and concentration dependent. Embryonic mortality just before parturition and failure of ecdysis appear to be the major cat ss of reproductive failure in these insects due to azadirachtin treatment.
