Topical application of costunolide and β-cycloscostustunolide epoxide, at 10 (μg female−1 of rust-red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum (Herbst.) reduced fecundity of the heetleto just 5.4 and 6.26 respectively in comparison to the corresponding value of 41.4 recorded in control. Egg-hatch of the beetle was also curtailed to 2.0–4.0% by these two lactones.
