Metabolism of carbofuran was studied in cell suspension culture of sugarcane. It was found to metabolise to 3-hydroxy carbofuran, carbofuran phenol and 3-hydroxy carbofuran phenol. The conversion of carbofuran to 3-oxo carbofuran and its 7-hydroxy phenol was not observed. The metabolism was found to increase with the increase in incubation period, and also affected by volume to cell suspension culture.
