Properties of carboxylesterases with respect to inhibition by quinalphos and monocrotophos were studied in larvae of Helicoverpa armigera collected from various agroclimatic zones of India. The highest I50 value for both the insecticides was obtained from Guntur strain (14.5480 x 10−6 m and 17.1450 x 10−6 m) obtained from laboratory reared strain. However, a direct positive relationship among the total carboxylesterase activity and I50 values towards these insecticides were not obtained.
