Ridomil MZ was applied at the rate of 720 and 1440 g a.i. ha−1 to control downy mildew disease of pearl millet at 30 and 60 d after sowing. The residue levels of metalaxyl reached to half of the initial deposits after 1.32 and 1.44 d at normal and double dose, respectively, with waiting period of 1 d at both the levels. At harvest, residues were below detectable limit. High bioefficacy of metalaxyl against downy mildew resulted in significant increase in crop growth and yield of pearl millet, while having no influence on carbohydrate and protein contents of the grains.
