Abstract

Field study was conducted during the kharif and rabi seasons of 1994 and 1995 to determine the herbicide residue in rice-rice-pulse cropping system. The pre-emergence herbicides viz. thiobencarb, butachlor, pretilachlor and anilofos applied at recommended dose continuously for four seasons in rice, recorded soil residue below toxic level and residues in plant parts lower than MRL. The herbicide residues found in the soil after the harvest of rice were below toxic level and hence it did not influence the germination and yield of blackgram raised as a test crop.
