Dissipation and decontamination of triazophos (700 g a.i. ha−1) and acephate (1500 g a.i. ha−1) in chilli fruits is reported. An initial deposit of 0.43 mg kg−1 of triazophos and 0.19 mg kg−1 of acephate, respectively, dissipated to an extent of 0.11 mg kg−1 and below detectable level by 15 d after six sprayings with respective half life values of 10.03 and 1.88 d and the waiting periods of 6.33 and 1.00 days. Dipping of green chillies in 2% salt solution for 10 min followed by water wash proved to be effective, facilitating the removal of 32.56 and 84.21% residues correspondingly at 0 and 5 d after spray of triazophos (700 g a.i. ha−1). While the acephate residues were removed to an extent of 78.95% at zero day.
