The metabolism of imidacloprid was investigated in brassica at 39 and 62 days of plant growth, sown after seed treatment application @ 15g ai kg−1 of seed. Metabolites such as 6-chloronicotinylaldehyde, 4, 5-dihydro-N-nitro-1H-imidazol-2-amine, 2-imidazolidone, 1-[(3-pyridinyl) l-methyl]-4, 5-dihydro-N-nitro-1H-imidazol-2-amine, 1-[(6-chloro-3-pyridinyl)-me-thyl]-1H-imidazol-2-amine and 1-[(6-chloro-3-pyridinyl)-methyl]-4, 5-dihydro-N-Nitro-H-imidazolidone were identified by GC-MS in both 39 and 62 days, whereas metabolites such as 6-chloronicotinic acid and 1-[(6-chloro-3-pyridinyl)-methyl]-N-nitro-1H-imidazol-2-amine were detected only at 62 days.
