Efficacy of Neem based Formulations against the Root-Knot Nematode Meloidogyne incognita

Five neem based formulations namely; Neem Jeevan, Neemark, Neem Gold, Achook and Kranti were tested at 1.0, 0.5 and 0.25% concentrations against Meloidogyne incognita, in terms of their effect on egg hatch, juvenile mortality and root gall-index, under in vitro conditions. All the formulations significantly reduced the egg hatch (24–70%) and root gall-index (20–50%) at all the tested levels, in comparison to control. Although, the five products tested were more or less ineffective in causing considerable juvenile mortality at 0.5 and 0.25%, the highest concentration (1.0%) and did show significant effect. However among the five products, Neem Jeevan and Achook were comparatively less effective than the others three in all the parameters (egg hatch, juvenile mortality and root gall-index) tested.
