Two field trials were carried out during the Rabi seasons of 1998–99 and 1999–2000 at the experimental farm of Division of Entomology, IARI, New Delhi, to assess the bioefficacy of different synthetic insecticides against diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella (L.) on cabbage. The bioefficacy of insecticides in a descending order was: cartap hydrochloride (0.05%) > lambda cyhalothin (0.01%) > beta cyfluthrin (0.00125%) > ethofenprox (0.01%) > endosulfan (0.07%) > imidacloprid (0.01%). Cartap hydrochloride, thus, proved most effective against P. xylostella.
