Abstract

Field trials were conducted for effectiveness of methomyl (Lannate 40 SP) at various doses above and in combination with synthetic pyrethroids to control Jassid and fruit borer during the first season of spray (March-July 1996) and against leaf rollers and fruit borers during the second spray (July-Oct. 1996). Methomyl @ 450 g a.i. ha−1 was found effective treatment, and chemically compatible with cypermethrin 10 EC. The rate of breakdown of methomyl 40 SP on okra fruits had followed first order kinetics. The residues declined to BDL when applied on the 3 and 5 d of spray on okra @ 300 and 450 g a.i. ha−1, respectively.
