Azadirachtin and aqueous neem seed kernel extract obtained from neem (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) seed kernels were evaluated for their effect on germination and seedling growth of soybean (Glycine max L. merril) and maize (Zea mayy L). Azadirachttn was found to be more phytotoxic than the aqueous neem seed kernel extract. At enzymatic level, azadirachtin increased peroxidase content in the treated plants.
