Abstract

An experiment conducted for two Rabi seasons at the Directorate of Wheat Research, karnal, revealed the effectiveness of chlorsulfuron, metsulfuron and 2,4-D against broadleaf weeds, Pre-emergence application of chlorsulfuron (2DAS) showed some suppressive effect on Phalaris minor. The season long weed infestation resulled in the grain yield reduction by more than 8 q-ha−1 compared to weed free check. P minor was found to be more competitive weed than broadleaf weeds. Isoproturon provided partial control of P. minor due to mixed population of resistant and susceptible biotypes.
