Efficacy of thiacloprid 240 SC was compared against leaf hopper, Amrasca biguttula biguttula (Ishida) on cotton with recommended insecticides imidacloprid 200 SL and oxydemeton methyl 25 EC during November r200 0 May 2001 and id summer 2001. Thiacloprid was applied as foliar application at 75,100 and 125 mL ha−1. Observations recorded on 0,1, 3, 7,14, 21 and 28 d after first and second treatments showed that thiacloprid at 125mL ha−1 was significantly superior to other two chemicals and control in reducing the leafhopper population. The effect persisted for four weeks. The plots treated with thiacloprid 240 SC at 125 and 100 mL ha−1 recorded higher seed cotton yield.
