Abstract

Ten essential oils were evaluated against Alternate brassicae, the cause of Aiternaria bllght of rapeseed, both under laboratory and pot house conditions. Oil of Mentha piperita gave complete inhibition of fungal growth at 2000 ug mL−1 followed by oii of Cyperus scariousus. Rest of the oils showed low to moderate efficacy. Oils of Mentha piperita and Cyperus scariousus, which were found promising in the laboratory study against A. brassicae, were further tested against Alternaria bllght of rapeseed under pot house conditions. Both of these oils gave high level of disease control at 10000 pg mL−1.
