Abstract

Controlled release formulations of insecticide imidacloprid obtained through its monolithic dispersion/incorporation in carboxy methyl cellulose, polystyrene, and polyvinyl chloride matrices released imidacloprid in water and soil beyond 42 and 49 days respectively. The release was diffusion controlled with a half release time (T1/2 of 11.7–42.0 days in soil and 9.0–36.7 days in water from different matrices. The period of opt mum (maximum) availability of imidacloprid in water and soil from controlled released formulations ranged from 24.2–42.1 and 25.1–46.9 days, respectively.
