Azadirachtin concentrate (20%) and azadirachtin congeners A, B and H showed egg-hatching inhibitory and ovicidal activity against the eggs of the maize stem borer Chilo partellus (Swinhoe). The ovicidal effect was pronounced with azadirachtin H, showing IC50 of 0.001 and 0.012 µg ml−1 at 5 and 7 days after application, respectively. Azadirachtin H also extended the egg-hatching period (T50 17.7 h) significantly over azadirachtin-A 20% concentrate (T50 11.7–12.0 h).
