The laboratory study on efficacy of various extracts of Madhuca indica on feeding and development of Spodoptera litura revealed that saponin and methanol extract of M. indica were more active causing antifeedancy, larval growth inhibition and inhibition of normal adult emergence. Saponin with Al50 of 0.94% was more effective in causing antifeedancy followed by methanol extract (Al50 4.26%) While methanol extract was more effective in reducing the larval weight gain (Gl50 3.11%), saponin at 0.85% concentration inhibited normal adult emergence by 50%
