Abstract

Environment friendly formulations of chlorpyriphos were prepared in water continuous microemulsion system. A mixture of two non-ionic surfactants Triton-X-100 (628) and Tween-80 (1284) in different mole ratio was used. The aqueous mixed micellar system prepared by using 4:1 mole ratio of Triton-X-100 and Tween-80 was found to solubilize maximum amount of chlorpyriphos. Further, the effect of addition of various co-surfactants upon solubilization of chlorpyriphos was also studied. n-Pentanol as a co-surfactant, in the Triton X-100 + Tween-80 surfactant water continuous mixed micellar system leads to solubilization of chlorpyriphos to a maximum of 15%.
