Abstract

Under laboratory conditions, following fortification of the soils at 2.5 µg g−1 paclobutrazol residues persisted beyond 210 days in four soils collected from mango orchards located at Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Malda (West Bengal), Nuzvid (Andhra Pradesh) and Konkan (Maharashtra). The dissipation of the residues followed first order kinetics. The half-life of paclobutrazol in different soils varied from 31.6–41.9 d. The change in soil pH (5.7 to 7.5) had no significant effect on the persistence of the residues.
