Resistance in Spodoptera litura (Fabricius) collected from different locations of Punjab to endosulfan, profenophos, chlorpyriphos and fenvalerate was monitored by using topical appllcation technique. The survival of all the populations when exposed to discriminating doses of profenophos and chlorpyriphos ranged from 46.6–70% whereas survival at the discriminating dose of endosulfan and fenvalerate ranged from 58.3–78.3 and 75.0–88.3%, respectively, thereby showing development of resistance. By using leaf disc residue method, the level of resistance in Mansa and Malerkotla population was 2.3 and 1.8 to endosulfan and 1.6 and 1.3 to fenvalerate, respectively, as compared to Hoshiarpur population. Pest populations of Mansa and Hoshiarpur were twice tolerant to chlorpyriphos as compared to Malerkotla population.
