Abstract

Benzalbenzylamines (Ia-XIa) and benzalanilines (Ib-Xlb) were synthesized by condensing benzylamine and aniiine with benzaldehyde and substituted benzaldehydes (I-XI), respectively, in equimolar ratio. The compounds Ia-XIa and Ib-XIb were screened in vitro for their antifungal potential against Alternaria alternata, Fusarium oxysporum, Myrothecium roridum and Colletotrichum capsici by spore germination inhibition method. The benzalbenzylamines (Ia-XIa) have been found to possess better antifungal potential as compared to benzalanilines (Ib-XIb).
