Lethal Effects of Neem-based Bio-pesticide Formulation on Mosquito Larvae

Lethal effect of commercial neem formulations Neemazal (1%) Neemicide (0.03%) Neemarin (0.15%) and Nimbicidine (0.03%) were examined in the laboratory on Aedes aegypti and Culex quinquifasciatus. Larval mortality (IV instar) of A. aegypti and C. quinquifasciats increased in a concentration dependent manner. Lowest LC₅₀ 58.0 ppm was obtained with Nimbicidine followed by Neemicide, (139.3 ppm), Neemarin (251.3 ppm) and Neemazal (1277.4 ppm) when IV^th instar larva of A.aegypti were treated with these compounnds Similar roxicity effects were allo observed in case of C. quinquefasciatus.
