Studies were conducted in the field to evaluate the efficacy of emamectin 5 SG against cotton bollworm, Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner). The field trials conducted during 2003–2004 winter and summer on cotton (var. LRA 5166) against the bollworm indicated that the new insecticide formulation of emamectin @ 11 g gi ha−1 was effective and the doses at 8 and 9.5 g ai ha−1 were equally effective when compared to standard check profenofos 50 EC @ 750 g ai ha−1, γ-cyhalothrin 5 EC 15 g ai ha−1, indoxacarb 14.5 SC @ 100 g ai ha−1 and spinosad 45 SC @ 66 0 gi ha−1 in reducing the larval population. The lowest loculi and boll damage were recorded with the application of emamectin @ 9.5 g ai ha−1 and it was on par with 11 g ai ha−1 which ultimately increased the yield of cotton.
