Abstract

Field trials were conducted to evaluate the bioefficacy of thiamethoxam, imidacloprid and dimethoate against Toxoptera aurantii (Boyerde Fonscolombe) and Coccus viririd (Green) during 2002 and 2003. Foliar arplication of thiamethoxam at 25 and 50 g ai ha−1 significantly reduced the population of T. aurantii to an extent of 99.2–100%. Imidacloprid (96–99.1%) was next to thiamethoxam but superior to dimethoate (92.4–93.9%) in reducing the population. Significant population reduction of C. viridis in the range of 92.3–95.5% was achieved by the application of thiamethoxam at 50 g ai ha−1. Imidacloprid provided 80.7–84.4% reduction of the scale population.
