Abstract

Persistence of temephos was studied in IARI soil under field condition by spraying dilute emulsion of 50 EC and broadcasting 1 SG granules on the surface of the soil @ 1.0 kg a.i./ha. The initial deposits were 1.03 and 1.08 ppm which become non:—detectable in 56 days. The half lives varied from 11 to 12 days. There was no leaching of the residues beyond 7.5 cm depth. Under laboratory condition, residue of the temephos in soil fortified at 5 ppm level persisted beyond 84 days when incubated at different moisture level at 27 ± 1°C. The dissipation of temephos was highest at field capacity follwoed by submerged and dry condition.
