Abstract

Fenamiphos applied on soil surface when exposed to sunlight underwent rapid transformation to fenamiphos sulphoxide. As compared to inert glass surfaces, the rate of degradation was faster on soil and leaf surfaces. Unlike fenamiphos, the oxidative metabolites fenamiphos sulfoxide and sulfone degraded comparatively rapidly. On soil surfaces, the rapid conversion to sulfoxide was attributed to photochemical rather than microbial processes.
