Abstract

Eight insecticide treatments, viz monocrotophos 36 SL, chlorpyriphos 20 EC, triazophos 40 EC, imidacloprid 200 SL, endosulfan 35 EC, quinalphos 25 EC, methyl parathion 50 EC and cartap hydrochloride 4 G were evaluated for their efficacy against rice leaf folder Cnaphalocrocis medinalis (Guenee), yellow stem borer Scirpophaga incertulas (Walker) and whitebacked planthopper Sogatella furcifera (Horvath) under field conditions during kharif 2005 and 2006. Cartap hydrochloride 4 G @ 1.0 kg ai ha−1 followed by monocrotophos 36 SL @ 0.50 kg ai ha−1 ana chlorpyriphos 20 EC @ 0.50 kg ai ha−1 proved most effective in reducing leaf folder infestation. At booting crop stage, in case of white ear infestation, chlorpyriphos 20 EC @ 0.50 kg ai ha−1, cartap hydrochloride followed by triazophos 40 EC @ 0.35 kg ai ha−1 effectively reduced infestation. At booting stage, imidacloprid, endosullan, quinalphos and cartap hydrochloride significantly reduced whitebacked planthopper population. The grain yield was high in cartap hydrochloride followed by monocrotophos and chlorpyriphos.
