Abstract

Efficacy of insecticidal granules and foliar applications with sole compounds and combination products was evaluated against leaf folder, Cnaphalocrocis medinalis (Guenee), white-backed planthopper (WBPH), Sogatella furcifera (Horvath) and brown planthopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens (Stal) on Pusa Basmatt-1 during kharif 2006. All the insecticidal treatments had significantly less incidence of the leaf folder in comparison to untreated control at 50 and 85 days after transplanting (DAT). On the other hand, none of the treatments proved effective against WBPH at 65 and 80 DAT. Likewise, due to very low incidence of BPH, evaluation of the efficacy of insecticides against this pest could not be concluded. On the basis of overall effect of insecticides against leaf folder and on crop yield, the insecticidal treatments thiamethoxam + γ-cyhalothrin, spinosyn and deltamethrin were observed to be better than other treatments.
