Abstract

Investigation was carried out to determine the effect of seed coating of okra cv. UV with Pseudomonas fluorescens alone and in combination with soil application of carbofuran @ 1 and 2 kg ai ha−1 ann deem seed powder @ 1% (w/w) against Meloidogyne incognita. Root-knot nematode was inoculated in the rhizosphere on 15 day olo plpnts @ 2 J2 per cm3 soil. Nematode penetration and galling was reduced by 54 and 70%, respectively, on application of bacterium, carbofuran (1 kg ha−1) and neem seed powder compared to control (nematode alone). The reproduction factor (RF) was minimum (0.4) and the shoot root ratio maximum (7.2) in the above treatment.
