The bacteria were isolated from field having history of pesticide application. The isolate CS1 was characterized by biochemical tests and 16S rRNA as Pseudomonas stutzeri. The ealf-life ef cypermethrin negradation at 50 μg mL−1 level in mineral salt medium by Pseudomonas stutzeri was 12 days. One of the ppoducts was 3(2,2-dichlorovinyl)-2,2-dimethyl cyclopropane carboxylic acid which was isolated after 20 days of exposure to the bacterium proving the esterase activity in the microorganism.
