Abstract

Experiments were conducted to evaluate the field efficacy of eight different modules against cutworm, Agrotis ipsilon Hufnagel in potato crop raised from True Potato Seeds during 2005–06 and 2006–07. Out of eight different modules tested, Module 2 (Soil application of imidacloprid 200 SL 48 g ai ha−1 + one spray of NSKE 5 mL L−1 + gram bait) was found to be significantly superior over rest of the modules except Module 1 (Soil application of chlorpyriphos 20 EC @ 400 g ai ha−1 + one spray of NSKE 5 mL L−1 + gram bait) in respect of hulm cut and tuber damage. Module 2 recorded the lowest hulm cut (9.8 and 13.1%) at 75 days after transplanting, tuber damage in weight basis (7.4 and 8.2%) and number basis (5.8 and 6.4) during 2005–06 and 2006–07, respectively. As regards to the tuber yield, the highest yield was recorded in Module 2 (97.5 and 93.3 q ha−1) followed by Module 1 (97.4 and 93.1 q ha−1), respectively, during 2005–06 and 2006–07. However, the highest benefit cost ratio was registered in Module 1 (3.11 and 2.98) followed by Module 2 (3.01 and 2.84).
