Abstract

Thiamethoxam and other seed dressers were evaluated against the sucking pests of cotton. The replicated field experiment was conducted with eight treatments at Dhanegaon Farm, Cotton Research Station, Nanded during Kharif 2002–03, 2003–04 and 2004–05. Observations were recorded on aphids, jassids, thrips and the natural enemies like lady bird beetles and the chrysoperla spp. Results clearly pinpointed that thiamethoxam 350 FS @ 3 g ai kg−1 seed was the best treatement in controlling the early season sucking pests of cotton and bringing out the best cost benefit ratio of 1:1.63.
