AINP on Pesticide Residues, College of Agriculture, Vellayani, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala-695 522
Persistence of α– and β– isomers of endosulfan in three soils of Kerala, at three concentration levels were studied in a laboratory experiment. Residues were estimated for upto 100 days. The results of the experiment revealed that persistence of endosulfan was maximum in laterite soil followed by sandy loam and least in red loam soil. The half life of α– isomer was lower than that of β– isomer in all the three soils. The persistence was more when the treatment level was high and persistence in soil was found to be dependent on aspects like pH, clay content, organic matter content and the concentration.
