Abstract

Studies were conducted for evaluating the efficacy of certain newer insectides alone and in combination against bollworm complex of cotton during kharif 2006–2007. The treatment acetamaprid 2% + indoxacarb 15% @ 20 and 150 g a.i./ha was the superior treatment in controlling per cent infestation in fruiting bodies (squares, flowers, green bolls) followed by acetamaprid 2% + indoxacarb 15% @ 12 and 90 g a.i./ha and acetamaprid 2% + indoxacarb 15% @ 10 and 75 g a.i./ha. Among the sole insecticides, indoxacarb 14.5 SC 15% @ 75 g a.i./ha was found to be most superior for minimizing per cent infestation in fruiting bodies and per cent infestation of bollworm in locule. The lowest per cent infestation in locules at harvest due to bollworms was observed in combination treatments acetamaprid 2% + indoxacarb 15% @ 20 and 150 g a.i./ha. Higest seed cotton yield was obtained from the treatment acetamaprid 2% + indoxacarb 15% @ 20 and 150 g a.i./ha (12.45 q/ha). Among sole insecticides, indoxacarb 14.5 SC 15% @ 75 g a.i./ha (8.21 q/ha) was found superior.
