Abstract

The monitoring of resistance in the American bollworm, Helicoverpa armigera Hub. was studied in 2006–07 crop season using conventional insecticides viz., cypermethrin, fenvelarate, deltamethwin, quinalphos, chlorpyriphos, profenophos, endosulfan, methomyl and spinosad, The study has revealed that H. armigera showed high level of resistance to all the pyrethroids, medium to low to organophosphates, moderate to methomyl and low to endosulfan. Among all the insecticides, cypermethrin showed the highest resistance while the H. armigera population was cent per cent susceptible to spinosad.
