The water samples collected from different locations of district Haridwar and Dehradun of Uttarakhand were analyzed for residues of organochlorine and cyclodiene group of pesticides using multi-residue method by GC-ECD. Endosulfan was found in maximum number of samples analyzed followed by dieldrin and BHC. The residues of endosulfan and/or its degradation products, DDT and/or its degradation products, BHC isomers and aldrin/dieldrin were 80, 25, 55 and 70 per cent respectively.
