The hexane and methanol extracts of dry mat of Paecilomyces lilacinus (Thorn) Samson were evaluated for nematicidal activity against Meloidogyne incognita and Rotylenchulus reniformis and fungicidal activity against Rhizoctonia solani, Sclerotium rolfsii, Rhizoctonia bataticola, Pythium aphanidermatumn, Alternaria alternata and Fusarium oxysporum. The hexane extract exhibited potential nematicidal activity against both nematodes with LC50µg ml−1=60, M. incognita; 71, R. reniformis where as methanol extract exhibited higher fungicidal activity than the hexane extract against all the test fungi. Among all the fungi the methanol extract exhibited the highest activity against F. oxysporum (ED50=124 µg ml−1). The study revealed that the nature of nematotoxins and fungitoxins present in P. lilacinus mat was found to be different.
