Abstract

With a view to study the harvest time residues of α-endosulfan in cotton, a field experiment was conducted during kharif 2006 at Regional Research Station, Anand Agricultural University, Anand. Four sprays of a-endosulfan each at 700 and 1400 g a.i. ha1 were applied to cotton (var. G. Cot. Hy. 8) Starting from flowering stage at an interval of 15 d. At the first picking (i.e. 54 d after the last spray) the levels of α-endosulfan residues were far below its LOQ of 0.017, 0.085 and 0.035 µg g−1 in cottonseed, oil and lint, respectively at either dose of application. Also the soil samples analysed 90 days after the last spray revealed a-endosulfan residue below its LOQ of 0.005 µg g−1.
