Degradation of β-cyfluthrin was examined by the reaction with porcine pancreatic lipase (PPL), a commercially available lipase, using tetrahydrofuran (THF) as the reaction medium. Degradation of the compound was observed during first 6 d of reaction with a half-life of 2 d. Two degradation products were isolated by the preparative TLC technique and were identified as α-cyano-4-fluoro-3-phenoxy-benzyl alcohol, and 3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)-2,2-dimethyl cyclopropanoic acid.
